Hey there... I'm homeschooling our 2 chicklets who are 9 and 7 who are on opposite ends if the math spectrum. Our 9 year old had been tested and labelled as profoundly gifted - math come easily to him. However, he does not like to be pushed and will shut down if he is approaching his knowledge/skill limit. My 7 year old was scolded for counting on her fingers last year in school and conversely made the decision that she was "no good at math." She spent the rest of her year telling her teacher she needed to go to the bathroom and would not return until math was over. She very much is leery of being "taught" math and will become enraged if she feels she does not "know how to do this." We also HS with a group of friends and am planning on doing our homework with a group of 5 kiddos ages 7.5 - 10. Looking forward to learning new math!
