Hi I am trained teacher/ mother who has chosen to home school our two children, one boy, age 9 and one girl aged 7. I am increasingly frustrated by the intensity inwhich the curriculum is being introduced to children and have made the conscious objection to try and keep up with its demands, rather choosing to work through each concept at the rate that suits both my children developmentally.

Hi. I am an elementary teacher. I used to work in a regular classroom, but recently, I received my diploma in special education and now I work with students with learning difference. I am always on the look out for some new ways of approaching math concepts.

Sounds like me ten years ago (kids are now 19, 17 and 12). I'd say you're on the right track!
