Many stories have loops or iterations of the same action. Read stories about the circle of life, rebirth and regrowth, or grains of rice that double again and again from one square of the chessboard to the next, or cumulative tales where the action repeats with an escalation, like “The Gingerbread Man”.
Fold sheets, towels, or just paper together with children – it’s a surprisingly engaging activity. Fold in half again and again and again. How small can you make a newspaper page by folding?
Cut or break a cookie or a paper square in half, and then cut that half in half again, and again, and again. Have you seen kids doing it with their favorite food to savor it longer? How small can you go? Put the pieces back together again – they add up to the original whole piece.
