We’re excited to invite you and your child (ages 6–9) to the whole-family volunteer opportunity: an interactive, small-group meeting of our Future Books Club at Natural Math. It’s a reading activity featuring an upcoming children’s book called My Hundred Friends by Kara Colley.
To sign up, email Dr. Maria Droujkova reach.out@naturalmath.com and say how many people are in your group.
This session is part of a beta reading program where participants get a sneak peek at the book before it’s published. They’ll help give feedback to the author and explore prime and composite numbers through a cartoon story.
Where: Chapel Hill Public Library, Room C
When: 10:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday August 17
Here’s what the activity will include:
Reading time – We’ll read pages from My Hundred Friends together.
Feedback – Readers will share what they like, what doesn’t work for them, or what they wished for. They will use colorful sticky notes and hands-on math objects to capture their ideas.
Group discussion – We’ll have a friendly chat as a group about our feedback.
It’s a great opportunity for kids to learn math in a creative way and be part of something special by helping shape a new book. It’s a chance for grown-ups to take a fresh look at young mathematics through storytelling and modeling.
To RSVP or with any questions, please email Dr. Maria Droujkova reach.out@naturalmath.com or text at 919-388-1721. We’d love for your family to take part in the Future Book Club!
