@jbeaudin, I have seen several course participants using chalk to draw, or using outdoor objects in scavenger hunts. These are more or less generic adaptations. For Multiplication Towers, I always wanted to build something really large and climbable on a playground, maybe the way Vi Hart builds with bamboo sticks:
